The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
After a rather long hiatus, I have finally decided to blog again. Oh and I'm in Tampines Junior Collage, in case anyone was wondering. Anyways, I present to you:

Recently, I watched this amazing movie on my computer, and I just have to share it. Before I get to the details of the story, let me share my favourite scene with you guys:
Daisy is Benjamin's love interest in the movie. Amazing how the little details lead to a series of chain events, culminating in a terrible accident.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a story that revolves around the life of Benjamin Button (played by Brad Pitt) as he grows - not older - but younger. The movie starts off as Hurricane Katrina is about to hit New Orleans. In a hospital, the frail and elderly Daisy Williams is lying on her deathbed with her adult daughter, Caroline, by her side. Daisy asks Caroline to read to her aloud the diary of Daisy's lifelong friend, Benjamin Button.

Benjamin's diary recounts his entire extraordinary life, the primary unusual aspect of which was his aging backwards, being born an old man who was diagnosed with several aged diseases at birth and thus given little chance of survival, but who does survive and gets younger with time. Abandoned by his biological father, Thomas Button, after Benjamin's biological mother died in childbirth, Benjamin was raised by Queenie, a black woman and caregiver at a seniors home.

Daisy's grandmother was a resident at that home, which is where she first met Benjamin.
Although separated through the years, Daisy and Benjamin remain in contact throughout their lives, reconnecting in their forties when in age they finally match up.
They have a child, Caroline. Present Caroline was taken aback by this startling revelation as she did not know, up till that point, that Benjamin was her father.

Benjamin, believing he could no longer be a "real father" to his daughter due to his continued reverse aging, decided to leave Daisy behind with his possessions and assets so that she would only have to raise one child, not two. When Caroline turned one, Benjamin departed with nothing but the clothes on his back, supporting himself with odd jobs as he travels various countries around the world.
Towards the end of the diary entries, Benjamin wrote that they reconnected once again, in Daisy's dance studio. The aging Daisy was married to Fran Martin, a kind man who supported her well, to Benjamin's relief. Daisy introduced Benjamin to her husband and the 12-year-old Caroline as a long-time family friend.

However, due to Benjamin's reversed aging, he looked much like a 24 year old.
After having a private session in Benjamin's hotel room, they mutually realize that Daisy has become too old for Benjamin.

That was when present Daisy continued the story as the diary entries ended there.
She had received a phone call from social workers. They informed her that they had found Benjamin -- now a young pre-teen just hitting puberty -- living in a condemned building, and that they had called her because they saw her name all over his diary.

The social workers believed that he has dementia, but he exhibited symptoms more similar to Alzheimer's, as he often sometimes forgot that he had just eaten (a common symptom of Alzheimer's) and could not remember Daisy or much of his past.
Daisy moved into the nursing home where Benjamin grew up and took care of him as he became a confused 5-year-old boy with a growing temper.

Shortly afterward, an infant (although chronologically 85 years old) Benjamin dies in Daisy's arms (unable to grow any younger, ironically dying of "young age").

At the moment before Benjamin dies, Daisy claims to have seen in his eyes that he still remembers her.

In all, this movie is the best so far of 2008 and I would recommend people to watch it, especially since it has recieved rave reviews from movie critiques. For me, I have throughly enjoyed this rather lengthy movie (166 min) and I'm sure others will appreciate it as I do.
